UCLA Football: Bruins Officially Lose Key Position Coach

UCLA's tight end coach officially leaves for San Jose State.

The UCLA Bruins officially lost their tight ends coach and former director of leadership for their football program, Ken Niumatalolo.

ESPN's Pete Thamel announced that Niumatalolo will leave Westwood to become the new head coach of San Jose State.

On Saturday, Thamel reported San Jose State is "targeting" Niumatalolo for its head coaching vacancy, and the two sides wasted no time reaching an agreement.

Niumatalolo will sign a five-year deal that will run through the 2028 season.  The 58-year-old coach is the Navy's all-time wins leader, and he was the guy at the helm from 2007 to 2022.

Niumatalolo spent one season at Westwood, where he was hired as the director of leadership for 2023. he served as an advisor for players and coaches. A couple of weeks ago, Niumatalolo was elevated to the tight ends coach; however, that didn't last long, as he will now head to the Bay Area.

We wish Niumatalolo the best in his next journey.
