UCLA Football: Star WR Singled Out By Chip Kelly After Big Day On The Field

Great to see.

After a big 28-16 victory over the Colorado Buffaloes last weekend that clinched the Bruins, there were a few studly performances that are worth writing home about.

One of the big ones was that of Logan Loya, a senior wide receiver from Garden Grove. The Bosco native snagged seven passes for 111 yards, which was good for his career-high.

Here's what Bruins head coach Chip Kelly had to say about Loya's performance, per Andrew Wagner of UCLA Communications:

“I thought Logan (Loya) came up big today. He had some huge plays. I don’t have his final numbers, but he’s been kind of a security blanket, I think, for all the quarterbacks. They know where he is. He’s smart. He’s intelligent. He does a great job of running routes. He understands coverage, and they did a really good job of mixing up coverages and mixing up looks. I thought that Logan adjusted really well today.”

Loya's performance was certainly great, and for a UCLA team that lacks a true No. 1 receiver following the losses of Kyle Phillips and Jake Bobo in consecutive drafts, having players step up on a game-to-game basis will be necessary for the Bruins to continue picking up big wins against good teams.

They have a road matchup against a UofA squad that is better than their record indicates, so let's see if Garbers, Loya and co. can continue to get the job done.
