UCLA Football: Watch CJ Stroud React In Real Time To Chip Kelly Departure

As the news of Chip Kelly's departure from UCLA to Ohio broke, CJ Stroud was asked by Yahoo's Jason Fitz for his thoughts about the move.

"That happened? Oh, wow! I think Chip is going to be an amazing fit. He coached Coach Day in college and that's kind of where Coach Day got all of his offensive thoughts from and of course put his twists and things on that so I'm excited to see what Ohio State does this year."

Kelly signed an extension through 2027 last month but his name was tied to several jobs this offseason. He interviewed with the Seattle Seahawks the night before signing day. All signs pointed to him leaving.

There have been reports about administrators and boosters wanting to fire Kelly months ago. Still, his buyout would drop from $8 million to $4.27 million next December so instead of firing him before the first Big Ten season, they would wait until after.

Kelly knew he was set up to fail as a Big Ten member in the first year and he wanted out on his terms before someone else decided for him.
