UCLA Basketball: Freshman Wing Devin Williams Maximizing Summer Opportunities with Bruins
Your UCLA men's basketball team has a number of incoming freshmen that bring unique skillsets to the floor and have already begun developing within their system. One that is full of potential is none other than 6'9 forward Devin Williams. Williams is primarily known for his defense and rim protection along with the potential to become a nice lob threat at the college level as well.
UCLA has compiled a roster filled with pieces that commit to both ends of the floor such as Aday Mara, Adem Bona and Sebastian Mack and Williams' wingspan will allow him to handle bigs down low while also switching out onto quicker guards on the perimeter.
It's also important to remember that the former Corona Centennial star has been with the school for majority of the summer with the full roster not coming in just yet. This has allowed him to get a head start at learning UCLA's culture and building a strong relationship with the coaching staff.
Head coach Mick Cronin spoke on Williams' immediate impact during summer workouts and shared how he's excited to see his development.
"It's been great for Devin Williams," said Cronin. "He's gotten a lot of opportunity in. practice this summer. I'm high on his future, really high on his future. He needs 20 pounds.. we all gotta give it to him."

Williams has also been able to shine early now that the Bruins are on their summer tour at Spain and have a couple of exhibition victories under their belt.
In their first win over the Madrid All-Stars, he dropped 14 points and seven rebounds and touched on what the team is focused on during this next couple of months.
"For my first college experience, in a way, just playing with my teammates against other people, I loved it," Williams said. "I thought it was a really good experience, and I think that we can be really good, for sure. I feel that we have all of the right pieces to work toward that 12th national championship at UCLA. But it's all building blocks, seeing as it is August right now. We are preparing to get all the way to March, so it was exciting – nervous and a bunch of feelings, but I am excited for the season."

We hope to see Williams continue improving and become a key part of Cronin's rotation once official games kick off!
