UCLA Women’s Basketball: Timeline Unveiled For MIP Award, Ex-Bruin In Running
The UCLA Bruins community has always known that Jordin Canada was going to blossom into a star at the next level and even though it has taken some time for her to get fully comfortable and a change of scenery was needed as well, she is thriving in a familiar city once again.
Once Canada ended up with the Los Angeles Sparks, she filled a role as a facilitator and playmaker that was very much needed. Even though she can score the ball at will, their offense has improved ever since she took over.
Bruins fans last remember Canada's senior season where she averaged 17 points and seven assists. Now that she is on the Sparks for the second year straight, she has been able to start climbing back to that sort of production as she is currently averaging just over 13 points along with six assists.
These numbers and her immediate impact on the franchise has led to her making a name for herself once again and even being considered for the Kia 2023 Most Improved Player Award. The WNBA recently announced that the winner of the award will be announced on Thursday, September 21.
LA Times' Annika Johnson also pointed out how her excellent defense should be shined on as well during this race.
"She is also averaging a league-leading 2.2 steals per game, compared with 1.4 in 2022. With her 74th steal of the season Tuesday night, she broke the Sparks’ franchise record set by four-time All-Star Alana Beard in 2017."

We certainly hope to see Canada holding the award this month and we know her career will only continue to go up from here!
