UCLA Men's Volleyball: Star Sophomore Earns National Honor

Richly deserved!

UCLA Bruins sophomore setter Andrew Rowan's efforts in a tandem of critical bouts last week has been named National Setter Of The Week by offtheblockblog.com, according to UCLA Communications.

Rowan's efforts helped propel the 14-4 Bruins (5-1 in the Pac-12 Conference), the No. 4-ranked team in the nation as of this writing (per the most recent American Volleyball Coaches Association poll), to two wins over inter-conference crosstown nemeses the USC Trojans, during a pair of key MPSF competitions. UCLA's combined .425 hitting conversion rate during these two contests over the weekend proved incredibly impressive.

During this week's annual Pac-12/Big Ten Challenge, the Bruins will next square off against the ninth-ranked Penn State Nittany Lions on Friday the Galen Center in USC. Next, the Blue and Gold will play host to the eighth-seeded Ohio State Buckeyes on Sunday at Pauley Pavilion. Earlier this year, the club fell in five sets to OSU. The Bruins will strive to course correct and steal a W against its future Big Ten opposition.

Will UCLA and Rowan, the reigning MPSF Freshman of the Year, be able to keep the good times rolling in the weeks ahead? Only time will tell if he can stand the test of time.
