UConn senior Mia Nahom (New Milford, Conn.) continued her tremendous start to the indoor season, breaking her own school record in the mile for the second time this season. Nahom ran the mile at the BU meet

Senior Mikyla Rodgers (South Huntington, N.Y.) continued her winning ways with her third of the season in the weight throw at the Rutgers Open.

At the BU Valentine Invite

On the track…

  • Senior Mia Nahom (New Milford, Conn.) ran the mile on Friday and broke the school record for the second time this indoor season. Nahom, who set a new mark at BU's John Thomas Terrier Classic at 4:37.45 two weeks ago, came out on Friday and clocked a 4:35.27 to re-set the school mark and finish 14th in the event. Nahom came into the weekend ranked 21st in the national rankings and has moved up to 19th after Friday's race.
  • Freshman Chloe Thomas (Dundas, Ontario) finished 25th overall in the mile and posted a new PR with a time of 4:40.74, just over seven seconds faster than her previous top-time. Junior Celia Chacko (Windsor, Conn.) took nearly nine seconds off her previous best time int eh mile, clocking in at 4:48.16.
  • Also recording new PR times in the mile were Emma Krebs (Roxbury, Conn.) at 4:49.74 and freshman Jenna Zydanowicz (West Hartford, Conn.) at 4:53.68
  • Junior Randi Burr (Westerly, R.I.) ran in the 5,000 meters and posted a time of 16:20.08 to finish 18th.
  • Sophomore Elise O'Leary (Milton, Mass.) ran 18th in the 800 meters, posting a new PR time of 2:09.10.

At the Rutgers Open

On the track…

  • Freshman Jailya Ash (Voorhees, N.J.) was fifth in the 60-meter hurdles, setting a new PR at 8.54 seconds.
  • In the 400 meters, junior Sophia Castronovo (Emerson, N.J.) and freshman Raquel Rosa (Waterbury, Conn.) finished seventh and eighth, respectively, both posting season best times at 56.57 seconds.
  • UConn's 4x400 relay team of Rosa, junior Emily Lavarnway (Ovid, N.Y.), freshman Alyssa Elliott (Bangor, Maine) and Castronovo, finished third with the fastest time this season by the Huskies at 3:47.34.

In the field…

  • Senior Mikyala Rodgers (South Huntington, N.Y.) got her third win of the season in the weight throw, topping the championship field with a throw of 19.81 meters setting a new PR.
  • Senior Taylor Woods (Marlboro, Md.) was a second-place finisher in the championship field of the long jump, recording a leap of 6.15 meters
  • Senior Emma Chee (Bainbridge Island, Wash.) finished second in the pole vault with a height of 4.06 meters.
  • Junior Patricia Mroczkowski (Berlin, Conn.) was second in the high jump at 1.77 meters.
  • Freshman Felicia Quainoo (Metuchen, N.J.) took third in the triple jump with a leap of 12.05 meters, a new PR.
  • Freshman Brynn Madonna (Allendale, N.J.) was fifth in the shot put with a season-best throw of 12.81 meters.
