Caleb Williams Has Simple Response To Reporters Following USC Football's Loss Vs Washington

Williams' emotions after the game were pretty relatable.

When life gets the best of you, little is as comforting as opening your front door and hearing the pattering footsteps of your dog as it runs over to greet you.

For USC quarterback Caleb Williams, all he wanted after the Trojans' 52-42 loss to the Washington Huskies was to do just that.

"I wanna go home and cuddle with my dog and watch some shows," Williams said when asked about his emotional state following the game. "We lost the game, something we worked hard for throughout months, years, to have big games like this, try and go win play your best. Each and every one of us, we came out with a loss today, so emotionally, I want to go home and I want to lay with my dog."

Seven Trojans took the podium in the USC media room following the game, crowding the stage. There was disappointment on the faces of Justin Dedich, Jonah Monheim, Calen Bullock, Tahj Washington, Shane Lee, Mason Cobb, and Williams after a shootout against the No. 5 team in the country ended in defeat.

Williams finished with 312 passing yards and four total touchdowns, completing over 77 percent of his passes. The 2022 Heisman winner's only mistake came in the form of a late second-quarter fumble that set up a Washington touchdown. Because the Huskies got the ball to start the second half, it proved a significant development in one of the highest-scoring games in recent Pac-12 history.

Once again, the Trojan defense was gashed by Washington. With a Heisman favorite in Michael Penix Jr. and two elite receivers, one would think that USC lost the defensive battle through the air. While Penix Jr. had a strong performance, it was running back Dillon Johnson who torched the Trojans for 256 rushing yards and four touchdowns.

Fans have called for defensive coordinator Alex Grinch's firing for much of the season, as USC continues to have one of the worst statistical defenses in all of football.

USC has been able to keep games competitive because of Williams' elite talent. Without the quarterback, the Trojans would be long forgotten as Pac-12 contenders this season.

College football fans throughout the country have questioned Williams' commitment to the game or competitive spirit with little evidence to back up such speculations.

After the loss, Williams hopped up onto the stands and hugged his mom and appeared to be crying while his mom covered his face with a large piece of paper.

Questioning the 21-year-old's commitment to football seems a bit ridiculous, as the future NFL No. 1-overall pick is possibly the most competitive player in the game.

While the noise around USC continues to get louder as fans and alumni are disappointed with the on-field product, it's likely that Williams' dog, a 10-month-old English bulldog named Supa, just wants to cuddle too.
