USC Football Coaches Utilizing Unconventional Methods to Prepare for Rainy Notre Dame Conditions

USC staffers were making it rain during Tuesday's practice.

It doesn't rain much in Southern California.

While the lack of stormy weather is one of LA's primary appealing factors, going to other parts of the country can provide a little bit of weather shock.

So, when the Trojans had to South Bend next weekend, they're likely hoping it doesn't rain during their matchup against Notre Dame, a 5-2 team that could stand in the way of the Trojans' shot at a College Football Playoff berth.

Unfortunately for USC, the weather in South Bend on Saturday will not meet the Southern California standards. With a high of 55 degrees and a solid chance of rain, the Trojans could play in their first rain game of the season.

In preparation for a potentially precipitous Saturday, USC football coaches took to spraying their punt returners with water to simulate the rain they might face when they take on Notre Dame.

Notre Dame will be USC's toughest opponent they have faced so far in their 6-0 start to the season. While they have lost twice, the Fighting Irish have faced a much tougher schedule than USC, losing to No. 3 Ohio State, No. 14 Louisville and beating No. 17 Duke.

With quarterback Sam Hartman at the reigns, Notre Dame has an experienced veteran with a strong arm and an ability to scramble when the pocket collapses.

The Trojans will take on the Fighting Irish, rain or shine, Saturday afternoon at 4:30 p.m. PDT.
