USC Football: Trojans Come in Low On Early Big Ten Rankings
The USC Trojans will be entering the Big Ten Conference in 2024, but it appears that the team might not be well-suited to hang with the bigger competition. Their signing day recruits have been criticized plenty, and players entering the transfer portal have not sparked much confidence.
The good news is that the Trojans have been able to land three amazing coaches in the past few weeks. D'Anton Lynn as DC, Mike Entz as linebackers coach, and Doug Belk as defensive backs coach.
However, despite revamping the defensive coaching, the recruiting has made it appear as if the team might not be able to hang high in the Big Ten. Bleacher Report has released early rankings, placing USC at #22 of 25.
Early rankings systems should always be taken with a grain of salt, as no one has a crystal ball. The Trojans could emerge as one of the strongest teams in 2024, but they will need to prove so early on.
Teams like Michigan and Ohio State are nothing to trifle with, and the Trojans will need to get some big wins to shake off the idea they will be out of their depth in 2024. The signing day recruits may not seem all that impressive, but their coaching could turn them into superstars within one season.
That would be the best-case scenario.
