Buffalo Bills Select Jonah Elliss in Second Round in PFF's Latest Mock Draft

With the NFL offseason officially here, mock drafts are in full swing, PFF's latest post-Super Bowl mock has a Utah standout joining his former teammate in New York

Super Bowl 58 has passed and the NFL offseason is here. With the Chiefs hoisting their second Lombardi trophy in the same amount of years, picks 1-32 are finally set.

NFL teams are officially on the clock. Team scouts and staff will go forward with the ever-impossible task of evaluating which prospects might be the best fit for their franchise.

However, for those not in league offices, the beginning of the offseason means something different… mock draft season is here.

Jumping on the offseason mock draft train early, PFF released their Post-Super Bowl Mock Draft just one day after the big game.

The mock draft, from PFF writer Trevor Sikkema, includes two rounds with hypothetical trades.

Sikkema’s draft simulation is comprised of a variety of wild predictions. Namely, the Denver Broncos trading up to select Drake Maye with the second pick, and the Washington Commanders trading up to select Michigan’s JJ McCarthy at pick 10.

While the first round of Sikkema’s mock draft is filled with eye-popping predictions, the second round is just as intriguing. Specifically pick 60, where PFF has the Buffalo Bills selecting Utah EDGE Jonah Elliss.

Elliss is Utah’s highest projected pick in this year's NFL draft. The 6-foot-2, 246-pound defensive end, put together an amazing campaign in 2023, racking up 12.0 sacks and 16.0 tackles for a loss, in 10 games.

Elliss, originally a three-star prospect from Moscow, Idaho, would be a great fit in Buffalo. Joining his former Utes teammate, Dalton Kincaid, the Utah EDGE would have a chance to shine due to the Bills' lack of depth at defensive end.

The Bills have several edge defenders set to become free agents on March 13, when NFL free agency officially begins. Leonard Floyd, A.J. Epenesa, and Shaq Lawson are all Bills defenders that meet this criteria.

Additionally, Buffalo may have uncertainty concerning the future of Greg Rousseau and Von Miller. Miller is entering year three of his almost $120 million contract, while the Bills have have a decision to make regarding Rousseau's fifth-year option.

Buffalo will certainly retain at least two or three of these players, most likely Miller and Rousseau.

Nevertheless, Elliss would have an open path to starting games early if the Bills selected him in the 2024 NFL Draft. Moreover, if the team did select Elliss, it would give the former Ute a significant opportunity to learn from one of the NFLs best fast-twitch edge rushers, Von Miller.
