UW Offers Mississippi Cornerback Committed to Arkansas
Two years ago, Noreel White committed to Florida State as a high school freshman. Two months ago, it was Arkansas.
On Friday, the 4-star cornerback from the Biloxi, Mississippi, area, received a scholarship offer from the University of Washington.
Where he ends up, nobody knows. Maybe not even him at this point.
Yet the Huskies at least are willing to jump into these Southern sweepstakes and see how everything shakes out in the pursuit of this speedy and versatile defensive back who also runs and catches the ball with a certain amount of flair.
In the middle of March, the 5-foot-11, 170-pound White surprised everyone at home by choosing the Razorbacks when all signs pointed to him playing for one of the local schools, Ole Miss, Mississippi State or Southern Miss, with LSU and those aforementioned Florida State Seminoles still options.
The attraction to him is he was a kid of many talents for a bad 3-8 St. Martin High team in Ocean Springs, which is across the bay from Biloxi to the east.
White finished with 55 tackles, including 2.5 for lost yards, and 3 interceptions and 2 pass break-ups.
Operating out of the backfield for the Yellow Jackets, he rushed 41 times for 254 yards and 5 touchdowns, with 80 yards his longest run.
He also caught 49 balls for 634 yards and 8 scores, and finished with 1,109 multi-purpose yards overall.
Whether or not the UW registers with White, Kalen DeBoer's recruiters can remind this Gulf Coast prospect they have another Mississippi-produced player on the roster in running back Dillon Johnson, the transfer from Mississippi State who has two seasons of eligibility remaining.
