Opponent Offensive Breakdown: Baylor Bears

Coming off of three straight losses and twelve days off, the West Virginia Mountaineers will travel to Waco Thursday for a Halloween match-up against the Baylor Bears. 

The Bears may be one of the most surprising teams in the entire country this season, climbing to an undefeated record (7-0) after being picked sixth in the Big XII at the beginning of the season.

Let's take a look at Baylor's offense and which players will be a handful for the Mountaineer defense.

Bears quarterback Charlie Brewer averages 484.1 total yards per game. The 6-foot-1, third-year quarterback has accounted for 18 total touchdowns this year, six of which have come on the ground. 

Brewer has only thrown three interceptions on 196 pass attempts. He has averaged 9.5 yards per completion for a total of 1,866 passing yards. On the ground, Brewer has 61 carries for 145 yards.

The Bears pick up 202.7 yards per game rushing due to a one-two punch of John Lovett and Jamycal Hasty. The duo has combined for 808 yards on 121 carries and eight rushing touchdowns. Hasty also poses a threat in the passing game with 16 receptions for 143 yards.

Senior wide receiver Denzel Mims decided to come back to school for one more season after having somewhat of a down year in 2018. The 6-foot-3 speedster can take the top off of a defense, including five games this season where he has a reception for at least 25 yards. He has 33 catches for 519 yards and five touchdowns. Mims also averages 15.7 yards per reception.

The Robin to Mims' Batman is 6-3 Tyquan Thornton. The sophomore likes to get downfield fast. He averages 19.5 yards per catch, racking up 507 yards this year on 26 receptions. Thornton has had at least 80 receiving yards in Baylor's last four games.

The Mountaineer defense will look to slow down a powerful Baylor offense without linebacker Josh Chandler and most likely without bandit backer Quondarius Qualls. 

Keith Washington will return to action after missing the last two contests.
