Keontez Lewis made a surprising post on Twitter yesterday. In a development that could greatly impact the Wisconsin Badgers' receiving game, Keontez Lewis has announced his decision to enter the transfer portal. Lewis, a starting wide receiver during the 2022 season, saw his role shrink under new Head Coach Luke Fickell.
Roster Changes Under Coach Fickell
Upon his arrival, Fickell wasted no time revamping Wisconsin's wide receiver rotation, bringing in notable transfer players including C.J. Williams, Will Pauling, and Bryson Green. These additions seem to have reshaped the pecking order, pushing Lewis to a smaller role in the lineup, which might have influenced his decision to transfer.
Lewis' Performance History
To recap Lewis' contributions to the team, he had 20 catches, 313 yards, and three touchdowns in the 2022 season. However, his involvement in the first two games of the current season was notably minimal. Lewis saw minimal action during Wisconsin’s Week 1 win over Buffalo, making just one catch for 12 yards. He was conspicuously absent during the Week 2 loss at Washington State.
