
Japanese Soccer Fans Fill Empty Seats With Cardboard Fans
Athletes often say they feed off the energy of the live crowd, but a Japanese soccer team is putting that theory to the test. Fans of the team Omiya Ardija, realizing the stadium was half-empty in a match against FC Tokyo, decided to fill a section of seats with "fans" made from cardboard cutouts.

It might have worked. The club won the game 2-0.
By the way, these cardboard fans look quite similar to digital fans seen in old basketball games.
