
New-Look Football Schedule in Winter 2024 Will Be Action-Packed: What You Need To Know
By expanding its playoff format from four teams to 12 this coming postseason, college football made its actual schedule longer by several weeks, and with the start of the new playoff coming much earlier combined with the usual NFL postseason dates, football fans will have a lot more meaningful football to watch this winter.
Until now, college football fans had to wait more than a month between the end of the regular season and the start of the playoff semifinal. But this year, by tripling the size of the format, the playoff schedule will look much different, and more active.
Here's your preview for the football postseason schedule to come later this year.
Fri., Dec. 20: The first-ever first-round game of the expanded College Football Playoff, played on campus, in the evening.
Sat., Dec. 21: The conclusion of the first-round of the College Football Playoff, also on campus, with the other three games: early afternoon, late afternoon, and evening.
Tues., Dec. 31: Fiesta Bowl College Football Playoff Quarterfinal Game; Glendale, Ariz., in the evening.
Wed., Jan. 1: Peach Bowl CFP Quarterfinal (Atlanta) in the early afternoon, Rose Bowl CFP Quarterfinal (Pasadena) in the late afternoon, and Sugar Bowl CFP Quarterfinal (New Orleans) in primetime.
Thurs., Jan. 9: Orange Bowl Semifinal (Miami) in primetime.
Fri., Jan. 10: Cotton Bowl CFP Semifinal (Dallas) in primetime.
Sat., Jan. 11: NFL Wild Card Round
Sun., Jan. 12: NFL Wild Card Round
Mon., Jan. 13: NFL Wild Card Round
