Baltimore Orioles Continue to Ascend Up History Books in Season's First Week
After taking two of three from the Los Angeles Angels in the first series of the season, the Baltimore Orioles continue to move up the baseball history books.
The Baltimore Orioles took two of three in the season-opening series from the Atlanta Braves over the weekend, and in doing so, they continued to ascend up the baseball record books.
Per Sarah Langs of MLB.com:
most consecutive series of 2+ games without being swept:
1942-44 Cardinals: 125
1903-05 Giants: 106
2022-pres. Orioles: 92 ** active streak extended w/LAA series
1922-24 Yankees: 83

The Orioles won 101 games last season and captured the American League East crown. The ability to always take at least one game in a series is a huge reason why the O's were able to remain so competitive all of last season. They advanced to the American League Division Series before losing to the Texas Rangers.
A Major League Baseball team plays 52 different series in a season, so the O's could break the all-time record this year should the streak continue. It's no guarantee that they do, but they should have a good chance to make a run at it considering how loaded Baltimore's roster is. The O's have some of the best young talent in all of baseball and also feature an A-plus farm system, so they have the impact depth needed to get through a season.
The Orioles next series will begin on Tuesday night when they take on the Kansas City Royals in Baltimore. First pitch is set for 6:35 p.m. ET as Cole Irvin gets the ball against Royals' righty Alec Marsh.
Irvin went 1-4 last season with a 4.42 ERA. He threw 77.1 innings after coming over in a trade from the Oakland Athletics.
