Los Angeles Dodgers Teammates Make Team History in First Week of Season
Los Angeles Dodgers' stars Mookie Betts and Teoscar Hernandez are out to incredible starts in 2024, making some impressive team history because of their power outputs.
The Los Angeles Dodgers slugged their way to another victory on Monday night, defeating the San Francisco Giants 8-3 at Dodger Stadium.
With the win, the World Series favorites are now 5-2 on the year while San Francisco drops to 2-3.
Once again, Los Angeles was paced offensively by superstar Mookie Betts, who went 2-for-3 with three runs scored and a walk. He's now hitting .520 through the first seven games of the season. Furthermore, Freddie Freeman was 3-for-4 with two RBI, Will Smith was 2-for-2 with two RBI and Teoscar Hernandez went 1-for-4 with a three-rum homer.
While most of the conversation about the team's lineup centers on Betts, Freeman and Shohei Ohtani, it's actually Betts and Hernandez who have teamed up for some fun early-season history.
Per Sarah Langs of MLB.com:
Mookie Betts and Teoscar Hernández are the first pair of Dodgers teammates to each hit 4+ HR in the team’s first seven games in the same season
Hernandez, who signed a one-year deal in the offseason, has hit home runs in four consecutive games for Los Angeles. He's hitting .250 for the year with those four homers and nine RBI.
One of the best players in baseball, the 31-year-old Betts is already a seven-time All-Star, a six-time Gold Glover, a six-time Silver Slugger and a batting champion. Furthermore, he's won World Seires rings in 2018 (Red Sox) and 2020 (Dodgers).
He also won the 2018 American League MVP.
As for Hernandez, he is coming off a season in which he hit 26 homers for the Seattle Mariners. He is a former All-Star who has played with the Houston Astros, Toronto Blue Jays and Mariners.
