Mickey Moniak's Injury Status Revealed Ahead of Angels-Marlins Game
Los Angeles Angels' outfielder Mickey Moniak sat out Sunday's game against the Baltimore Orioles with an illness, but he's back and ready to play on Monday night against the Miami Marlins.
After sitting out the final game of the series against the Baltimore Orioles because of illness, Los Angeles Angels' outfielder Mickey Moniak is back in the lineup for Game 1 of the series against the Miami Marlins on Monday.
Erica Weston of Bally Sports had the lineup out on social media:
"Angels today in game 1 from Miami:"
Moniak will be hitting eighth, ahead of Miami native Zach Neto.
The 25-year-old Moniak is the former No. 1 overall pick in the draft (2016). He was selected out of the California high school ranks by the Philadelphia Phillies and traded to the Angels in the 2022 deal that sent Brandon Marsh to Philly.
He became a fairly big part of the Angels' roster in 2023, playing in 85 games and hitting 14 home runs. This year, he's 0-for-2 at the plate but figures to see some good time again. Furthermore, should MIke Trout or Aaron Hicks get injured this year, he should feature more prominently.
The Angels lost two of three to the Orioles over the weekend and are starting this new series against the Marlins, a team that got swept in four games to start the year as well. They were swept at the hands of the Pittsburgh Pirates.
Game 1 of that series begins at 6:40 p.m. ET as Angels' righthander Chase Silseth pitches against Marlins' youngster Max Meyer. It's a three-game series that concludes on Wednesday before the Angels finally head home for their first homestand of the season.
