Chicago White Sox Broadcasting Legend Hawk Harrelson Calls This Season One of the Disappointing of HIs Career
The Chicago White Sox are one of the worst teams in baseball right now at 48-73. They are in fourth place in the American League Central and own the third-worst record in the American League, only ahead of Oakland and Kansas City.
Armed with major expectations heading into the season, the White Sox have been a major disappointment, getting underwhelming seasons from stars like Tim Anderson and Dylan Cease, and high-paid players like Yasmani Grandal. The team gutted the roster at the trade deadline, getting rid of veterans Lucas Giolito, Reynaldo Lopez, Joe Kelly and Lance Lynn, as well as power-hitter Jake Burger.
Former White Sox broadcaster Ken "Hawk" Harrelson recently spoke to the Chicago Sun-Times and called it one of the most disappointing seasons of his major league career. He said he still watches the White Sox.
Sports media website "Awful Announcing" transcribed some of this thoughts and we have taken a portion of the excerpt.
“It’s been a tough team to watch,” Harrelson told the Sun-Times. “It’s been one of the most disappointing seasons of my major-league career.”
“There’s so many holes there,” Harrelson said of the 2023 team. “And they just don’t have leaders on the ballclub.”
In addition to being a beloved broadcaster, Harrelson also played nine years in the big leagues with the Kansas City Athletics, the Cleveland franchise, the Red Sox and the Washington Senators.
He led the league in RBI in 1968 with the Red Sox. He also served in an executive role with the White Sox in 1986.
The White Sox take on the Rockies on Friday night.
