Evan Carter's Lineup Status For Texas Rangers-Tampa Bay Rays Game on Wednesday

With the Texas Rangers and Tampa Bay Rays set to finish out their series on Wednesday afternoon, the Rangers are sitting young outfielder Evan Carter among his early-season struggles.

Amid his early season struggles, Texas Rangers' rookie Evan Carter is sitting for Wednesday's afternoon game against the Tampa Bay Rays.

In his absence, the team will be playing Wyatt Langford, Adolis Garcia and Leody Taveras in the outfield. Corey Seager will be serving as the designated hitter.

It's been an interesting early season for Carter, who is 0-for-15 at the plate, but still has a .318 on-base percentage thanks to six walks drawn. That leads the American League and he's also scored a team-high five runs.

Carter made his Major League debut at the end of the 2023 season and was integral in helping the Rangers win the organization's first World Series title. After coming up in September, he hit .306 in 23 games with five homers, 12 RBI and three stolen bases.

Carter went onto hit .300 in the team's playoff run, including .286 in the World Series. He had six postseason RBIs and a key homer in the ALDS against the Baltimore Orioles.

Carter will undoubtedly figure it out because he's too good not to. Because he has yet to exhaust his prospect eligibility, he is still the team's No. 1 prospect according to MLB.com.

From a portion of his prospect profile:

Carter's offensive game centers around his preternatural ability to recognize pitches and discern strikes, which has earned him the nickname "Full Count Carter" and allowed him to record a 16.1 chase rate in his big league debut (including the postseason) -- better than the MLB-leading 16.6 mark of official qualifier Juan Soto. Though he was more pull-happy in his first taste of the Majors, he focuses on making hard contact to all fields with a quick left-handed stroke and should have at least average power as he gains more strength and launches more balls in the air.
