Throwing the proverbial first pitch for our MLB predictions for Saturday is an American League clash between the Cleveland Guardians and Texas Rangers. We’re expecting a high-scoring game, and let’s dive into why starting with the home team.

The Rangers have been one of the best teams through the first half of the season, even fending off the defending World Series champion Houston Astros in the AL West. They’ve done so primarily with an explosive offense, led by the likes of Adolis Garcia, a 2023 Home Run Derby participant, Marcus Semien, Nathaniel Lowe and Corey Seager, just to name a few.

Now they’ll get to face a rookie in Cleveland starter Gavin Williams. He’s allowed seven runs over his last two starts, and at least three in each of his last four outings. Two of those games came against the Kansas City Royals and Oakland Athletics - the two worst teams in baseball. So, while Texas should do the majority of the damage, the Guardians can contribute as well.

The Rangers pitching staff was supposed to be the talk of the town after they added Jacob deGrom in the offseason. However, he only managed a handful of starts before getting injured for the year. Now, they have to rely on guys like Andrew Heaney. Cleveland doesn’t hit lefties particularly well, but Heaney just allowed eight runs to the bad Washington Nationals team.
