NBA In-Season Tournament Predictions for This Week's Games
Below, we preview and detail the two matchups regarding our NBA In-Season Tournament predictions. Our NBA In-Season Tournament picks focus on two of the most talented teams in the league. While one has been dominant, the other is just gathering its bearings after an injury-riddled start. Both of our teams are on the road, but we don’t believe either will be fazed against inferior competition.
Phoenix Suns vs. Utah Jazz Prediction
Tonight is finally the night Phoenix Suns fans and just about any NBA fan has been waiting for: The Suns big three of Kevin Durant, Bradley Beal and Devin Booker are expected to make their joint debut. While we are only 11 games in, the lack of the Suns’ depth has been felt as the team is off to a 5-6 start and 0-1 in NBA In-Season Tournament group play. Tonight, they are in Utah to play a Jazz team that is 4-7 overall but 2-0 already in group play.
These teams already met in Phoenix on October 28, and the Suns dominated to the tune of 126-104 with Kevin Durant as the lone star. A 22-point home victory without Booker and Beal shouldn’t warrant just a 5.5-point spread on the road, even if the Suns haven’t performed well away from home to this point. We’re predicting the full force of the Suns’ star power to lead to inspired play and substantial production on offense, leading to a win.
Boston Celtics vs. Toronto Raptors Prediction
When this write-up started, the Boston Celtics were 5.5-point favorites. Now, this has been elevated to 7.5 thanks to smart bettors taking Celtics action, and the belief that at least one of Kristaps Porzingis, Al Horford or Jaylen Brown will play in this game. As it stands, each of these players is questionable to play tonight.
In truth, we are comfortable siding with the Celtics here regardless of Brown, Porzingis and Horford’s status. The 9-2 Celtics have already slaughtered the 5-6 Raptors this season by a final score of 117-94. Brown and Porzingis combined for 50 in the game, so their presence was truly felt, but aside from Scottie Barnes, the Raptors have been polarizing and have struggled to consistently produce on offense. Going up against the Celtics, who own the second-best defensive rating in the NBA, we foresee another offensive struggle from Toronto leading to Boston’s 10th win of the season.
If you become a NEW member with FanDuel and believe either the Suns or Celtics will win tonight as part of our NBA In-Season Tournament predictions, take either team’s money line with your first wager of $5. If your team wins, you earn $150 in bonus bets.
Picks & Predictions for the 2023-24 In-Season Tournament Featuring C’s -7.5 & Suns -5.5
With Phoenix possessing a sub-.500 record on the road, oddsmakers are underestimating the debut of the big three in action. We’ll happily take the value on the point spread, as with Booker back on the court, they splashed 133 points against the Minnesota Timberwolves, who own the league’s top defensive rating, just two nights ago. Just think of what Booker, Beal and Durant can do together from beyond the arc and inside.
Thus, one of our favorite NBA In-Season Tournament picks tonight is Suns -5.5 (-110 at FanDuel Sportsbook).
On the East Coast, we take our chances with one of the NBA’s top teams, despite questionable tags attached to a few key players. The Celtics have lost two games this year, and both were by five points or less against two teams that own 8-3 records to this point: the 76ers and Timberwolves. We certainly don’t see them losing to Toronto. If Tatum has to hold down the fort and do most of the scoring, we believe he can explode this evening.
All nine of the Celtics’ wins so far have been by eight points or more, and the tightest win was by eight points on opening night against the Miami Heat. With a spread well below their average margin of victory, the second of our NBA In-Season Tournament picks is Celtics -7.5 (-106 at FanDuel).

Who Will Win the NBA In-Season Tournament? Winner Odds & Prediction
Here, we present FanDuel’s NBA In-Season Tournament odds for the outright winner, plus dive into our brief prediction:
- Boston Celtics (+420)
- Denver Nuggets (+460)
- Milwaukee Bucks (+500)
- Los Angeles Lakers (+600)
- Minnesota Timberwolves (+950)
- Miami Heat (+1300)
- Indiana Pacers (+1600)
- Sacramento Kings (+2800)
- Phoenix Suns (+2900)
- Golden State Warriors (+3100)
Considering this is the inaugural season of the NBA In-Season Tournament, we don’t know exactly which teams will be most motivated to come out and win this thing. However, even though the Celtics lead in odds and are a boring pick, this could be their year to win the NBA Finals, and maybe nothing will stop them along the way. The way the Celtics are built, we could see them cashing in on their +420 odds.
For more of a dark horse, we like the Minnesota Timberwolves. Owning the top defensive rating, a premier frontcourt and a budding top player in the league in Anthony Edwards will have to count for something this season. In a crowded Western Conference, this may not be the Timberwolves' year to win it all, but their confidence could skyrocket by winning the NBA In-Season Tournament (+950).
