Update Given On Anthony Davis' Injury Status In Lakers-Grizzlies Playoff Series

Visibly bothered by injuries in Game 4 against the Memphis Grizzlies on Monday night, Los Angeles Lakers big man Anthony Davis gave an update on his injury status.

Staying healthy has been hard for Anthony Davis in recent years and once again, the Los Angeles Lakers big man had to deal with several ailments over the course of the 2022-23 season.

Now in the postseason, Davis continues to battle through injuries and he has been bothered recently not only by a lingering foot injury, but right hip soreness as well.

During Monday night's Game 4 against the Memphis Grizzlies, Davis was bothered by his hip and had to come out of the game multiple times. On the sideline, he was seen grimacing and visibly frustrated while rubbing his right hip.

It appeared that Anthon Davis may have injured his right hip earlier in this series, but in Game 4, he took a hard fall into the stanchion and immediately grabbed at his hip in pain.

The Lakers ended up winning this game despite Davis' struggles and after the game, he was asked about his status moving forward.

"I just wanted to play,” Davis told reporters. “It’s been bothering me for probably like a week-and-a-half. But there was no way I was coming out. Just trying to give what I could to the team. I’ll be fine, though. We do what we’re supposed to do Wednesday, then I get a couple days to let it calm down and get back to normal. But take care of it tonight, tomorrow and get ready for Wednesday’s game."

In a total of 42 minutes, Anthony Davis had just 12 points on 4-13 shooting, but he did make an impact with 11 rebounds, two steals and four blocks.

As for what his head coach thinks about his injury, Lakers coach Darvin Ham stated that Davis has been "hanging in there" and that the team's medical staff will continue to work with him.

"It’s definitely hurting but it’s not something that’s going to keep him out." Ham said. "We just have to manage it the best we can and it’s constant round-the-clock treatment."

The Lakers currently lead the Grizzlies 3-1 in this first-round series with Game 5 set to be played in Memphis on Wednesday, April 26.

Anthony Davis has been listed as "probable" the last few games due to foot soreness and this trend will likely continue.
