Saudi Arabian GP Results: Fernando Alonso Tops FP2 Timesheets
Fernando Alonso put in the fastest time during the second free practice session ahead of the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix.
George Russell and Max Verstappen put in the second and third fastest times, respectively, behind Alonso.
The second practice session was held at the same time as Qualifying and the Grand Prix so it gave fans a slightly more representative view of how the teams and drivers are performing.
Despite a delayed start due to drain covers in the pit lane being checked, the teams and drivers still had an hour of track time.
Lewis Hamilton is set to be investigated after the session for potentially impeding Logan Sargeant whilst getting out of the way of Carlos Sainz. The seven-time champion said to his race engineer Peter Bonnington:
"I didn't realise someone was on a lap. I was trying to get out of the way for Sainz and all of a sudden there was a Williams there."
Hamilton's teammate George Russell was also struggling with instability. He was heard commenting:
"Car is so unstable in high speed, so so unstable in high speed."
Another close call came between Russell and Tsunoda on one of the curved straights. With under five minutes to go, Hamilton ran into power issues so returned to the pit.
