Arlington Renegades 2024 UFL Schedule Analysis

The matchup that everyone has been waiting for with the USFL champions going up against the XFL champions in Arlington. Birmingham will be led by quarterback J’Mar Smith returning to the starting lineup after an injury placed him on the sidelines and Alex McGough ran with the job. This will be the Renegades’ toughest challenge in the team’s young history facing off against a team that is poised for a third title to earn the title “Dynasty.”

While there are questions at who will be the quarterback for St. Louis, the Battlehawks are loaded at receiver with Hakeem Butler, Jahcour Pearson, Steven Mitchell and Blake Jackson. For the second straight season, the Renegades enter the dome as the first visitors of the season presenting this game as an early season challenge.

The XFL Championship rematch has the Defenders looking different from the offensive perspective with Jalen McClendon as the early favorite to start at quarterback. Reggie Barlow’s unit went 9-1 last season leaving the Renegades with yet again another challenge to start the year. The Renegades will need to follow the same game plan as the title game while getting off to a fast start.

One of the longest running rivalries in spring football takes shape in the Texas Throwdown. The Roughnecks will look much different from last year’s team as their running game is the strength led by one of the USFL’s best running backs the last two seasons Mark Thompson. Both teams got double-digits wins against each other in the last two games, which fans shouldn’t get used to in this game.

This is the first of two games in the recently new in-state rivalry between the Brahmas and Renegades. The Brahmas are a much different team from last season as Wade Phillips takes over the team with a revamped offense. Don’t except this contest to be low scoring like the games the fans witnessed last season between the two teams.

With the excitement of the Detroit Lions making a playoff run in the NFL, Ford Field will have a different feel with the Panthers this season with Lions fans wanting more success. The Panthers have a stellar defense with a focus on who will be the quarterback for the team. 

Arlington’s secondary will be challenged against one of the best quarterbacks in the UFL Case Cookus. The Showboats have a strong offense going into the season that could prove to be a challenge for the Renegades defense with the goal being to pressure Cookus early and often.

The second meeting between these two teams could have big playoff implications as this begins a three-week push all against teams in the XFL Conference. Arlington will need help from its offense to score on what appears to be one of the better defenses in the league.

Another conference game that could impact the playoffs with this being the last home game of the season for the Renegades. Since the team has been in existence in 2020, Arlington is 2-6 at Choctaw Stadium. The team will need a big home win to help build momentum going into Week 10.

Last season in the XFL, the Defenders helped the Renegades sneak into the playoffs beating the Brahmas in Week 10. Both teams should be in the running for the playoffs leaving this game as a potential win or go home matchup.
