Birmingham Stallions 2024 UFL Schedule Analysis

In one of the most anticipated matchups in recent spring football history, the two league champions will square off for the first time. The Arlington Renegades are well-coached under Bob Stoops, and the team saw a major turnaround after trading for quarterback Luis Perez last season in the XFL. In what will most likely be the biggest crowd of the season in Arlington, the Stallions face their first big challenge of the year.

Michigan’s defense was one of the top units in the USFL last season, and the Panthers also fielded a solid running game. While Ford Field isn’t an easy place to play, the Stallions have had success against the Panthers in the past and will look to continue their dominance over them.

Quarterback Case Cookus adds a new dimension to the Memphis Showboats offense, making them one of the teams to watch out for in 2024. With J’Mar Smith added to the fold again in 2024, this has the makings of a really good quarterback battle and a potential shootout.

The return of quarterback Jordan Ta’amu to the D.C. Defenders changed the entire dynamic of the 2024 UFL season. Birmingham has not faced many quarterbacks who are both as mobile and as capable of protecting the ball as Ta’amu. The Stallions might being the home team, but this could be a preview of a potential UFL championship matchup.

Only one team has been able to beat the Stallions in back-to-back years, and that is Houston. Of course, the last two years the team was called the Gamblers, but regardless, Houston has been able to keep the series even at 2-2. Roughnecks coach Curtis Johnson will look to once again pull a surprising upset, this time in front of the Houston home crowd.

This rematch is worth watching again as the Stallions and Showboats appear to be the two teams poised to battle it out for the USFL Conference title. Taking place in the second half of the year, it could be the most important game of the season for Birmingham as the team looks to earn a big road win to stay in the playoff hunt.

There are still questions about whether A.J. McCarron will return to St. Louis to be the quarterback, and the team's loss of running back Max Borghi hurts as well. The Battlehawks’ receiving core is deep and fast, however, making the Stallions’ job to cover them harder. This is another game that could be a shootout in front of the Birmingham home crowd.

Once again, this USFL Conference matchup will be critical for the Stallions to get into the playoffs. Houston’s defense has been good the last two years and running back Mark Thompson has been a catalyst for the offense. Birmingham has Scooby Wright on the other side, though, and will be a big part of the game plan to stop the Roughnecks’ running game.

It’ll be the first time the Stallions have played in San Antonio, and this isn’t the 2023 Brahmas squad that won three games. San Antonio coach Wade Phillips has been a proven winner with the Dallas Cowboys and the Houston Roughnecks last year. There will be some questions about the Brahmas offense, but this appears to be a much better team on paper and gives the Stallions a tough last road game of the year.

The Michigan Panthers will come to Birmingham for the last game of the season. A home game for the Stallions gives them a major advantage as they have historically dominated at home. This is the game that could make or break their season as Birmingham has its sights on the UFL title.
