Competition Heats Up at Tight End for Memphis Showboats with Signing of Former Seattle Seahawk

The Memphis Showboats are not done looking for the right tight ends, bringing in Cam Sutton on Tuesday.

More than any other position, the Memphis Showboats have been rotating players in and out at tight end all month. Memphis signed Cam Sutton on Tuesday in search of more depth.

Sutton played for the Las Vegas Vipers in the XFL last year, hauling in 12 receptions for 140 yards in nine games. His pro career began with the Seattle Seahawks in the NFL in 2021.

He started at Riverside City College in 2017 before finishing his last two seasons with the Fresno State. Sutton posted 9 catches for 154 yards in 25 games for the Bulldogs.

In the past two weeks, the Showboats have signed tight ends Dominique Dafney and Michael Ezeike. The tight end room now has five players, with Sage Surrant expected to be the starter. The questions are now about who will earn the spot as his backup, and how many tight ends the team keep.

On Sunday, UFL teams need to cut their rosters down from 75 to 58 players. Memphis will have an away matchup to start the season as they face the Houston Roughnecks in Week 1.
