PGA Tour Says Commissioner Jay Monahan is Recovering From 'Medical Situation'

The Tour did not offer details as to what type of medical situation Monahan is recovering from, but said two executives are stepping in for Monahan during his absence.

LOS ANGELES— PGA Tour commissioner Jay Monahan is dealing with a medical situation that has taken him out of day-to-day duties until he recovers.

The PGA Tour released a statement in its website.

“Jay Monahan informed the PGA Tour Policy Board that he is recuperating from a medical situation. The Board fully supports Jay and appreciates everyone respecting his privacy. During Jay’s absence, Ron Price, Chief Operating Officer, and Tyler Dennis, Executive Vice President & President, PGA TOUR, will lead the day-to-day operations of the PGA TOUR with the assistance of the great team Jay has built, ensuring seamless continuity. We will provide further updates as appropriate”

Monahan, 53, became commissioner in 2017.

Last week he announced a controversial decision that will see the Tour, the DP World Tour and Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund join forces as partners.
