Dejected Cardinals Player Reunited With Lost Glove After Failing to Rob Walk-Off Homer

The New York Mets beat the St. Louis Cardinals on Sunday afternoon at Citi Field, 4-2. Mark Vientos hit a two-run homer in the bottom of the 11th inning to give the Mets their only win of the homestand. The Mets were absolutely euphoric as they felt the thrill of victory, while the Cardinals were left dealing with the agony of defeat. Nowhere was that more visible than in center field where rookie Michael Siani had come oh so close to robbing Vientos, but failed in hilarious fashion.

Siani climbed the wall hoping to make another highlight reel catch, but he lost his glove instead. His mitt popped off and went flying while Siani tumbled to the ground and ended up in a comical position on the warning track, slightly propped up against the padding, like he was waiting for a school bus that would never come.

The good news is that his glove found its way back to him. As he sat there contemplating life, it just fell from the sky and settled right next to him like a loyal pet that knew its owner was feeling bummed.

Most importantly, Siani's glove coming back to him means he's not just out-of-towner who lost a glove while visiting New York. Which is good because he needs that thing for work. The Cardinals have a three game series in Detroit this week before heading back to St. Louis. Siani and his glove will both be there.
