Angels Injury News: Logan O'Hoppe Logs First Hit on Rehab Assignment

The young backstop may be able to join his team during their playoff push!

Angels 23-year-old catcher, Logan O'Hoppe, is making huge steps in recovery as he has logged his first hit during his rehab assignment with the Inland Empire 66ers, the team's Single-A affiliate.

The young catcher found his way into the Halos organization when he was traded for outfielder Brandon Marsh at last year's trade deadline. The trade helped move a struggling bat in Marsh while bringing in a promising young player in return.

It looks like O'Hoppe is recovering nicely and could find his way back up to Anaheim in the coming weeks.

In just 16 games in 2023, O'Hoppe was looking like a star. Hitting at a .283 average with 4 home runs and 13 RBIs, the young catcher was looking like the franchise backstop for years to come.

Unfortunately, the rookie suffered a torn labrum and underwent shoulder surgery to fix the injury.

But now, just four months removed from tearing his labrum, a return to the big league ballclub may be on the horizon.

This comes at an amazing time for the team who went all in this year at the trade deadline to make the playoffs and prove to Shohei Ohtani that he can win October baseball games in Anaheim.

The Angels are currently 58-58 and 6.5 games behind the last Wild Card spot.

The Halos need some energy back in the lineup as the bats need to help support their struggling pitchers and rally back some close wins.

With 46 games remaining in the Halos season, Logan O'Hoppe might just be the piece needed to reenergize the ballclub and launch them into the playoffs.
