Angels Lineup: Shohei Ohtani Nearing 2 Weeks Out of LA Lineup
As the Angels welcome the Detroit Tigers to Anaheim, they'll do so without DH Shohei Ohtani in the lineup. Again.
The slugger has been out of the lineup and listed as day-to-day for the last 11 games now. That's 12 days and nearly two weeks since Ohtani suffered an oblique injury in batting practice.
As the 2023 season winds down, it seems like it might be the smarter play for Shohei and company to shut it down for the year and get a head start on the elbow surgery to repair a partially torn UCL.
Ohtani is hitting .304 with 44 home runs and 95 RBI in 135 games this season. He also went 10-5 with a 3.14 ERA in 23 starts before suffering the season-ending injury as a pitcher.
The Angels have only 9 games left at home this season and, if he does get into the lineup again, each game could end up being his last with the Halos.
Ohtani is a free agent after the season.
