The snakebit Angels just cannot catch a break here in 2023. With a number of key injuries forcing stars out of the lineup -- including center fielder Mike Trout -- the bad luck continued on Saturday for the guy filling in for Trout in the outfield.

Jo Adell was forced from Saturday night's game against the Dodgers after just one at-bat in the first inning. He was seen talking to the training staff on the bench shortly after striking out against LA opener Alex Vesia.

Luis Rengifo moved from second base to left field and David Fletcher came in off the bench to take over at 2B.

Now, when we say the Angels can hardly afford to deal with another injury, that might be a bit of an undersell. Along with Trout sidelined, star third baseman Anthony Rendon is unavailable as he recovers from a nasty foul ball he hit off his leg earlier this week.

The Halos are also without outfielder Taylor Ward, utility man Brandon Drury, shortstop Zach Neto, infielder Gio Urshela (out for the year) and rookie catcher Logan O'Hoppe.

Adell has spent most of the season down at the minor league level but has made the most of his big league opportunities with 3 hits (a double, a triple, and one monster home run) in 13 at-bats.

The Angels are off for five much needed days upon the completion of Saturday night's game in LA.

More to come on this story.
