Shohei Ohtani is making his first start of the second half tonight against the visiting Astros in Anaheim. For the Angels, that's a huge update after the ace right-hander was forced to skip his last start on the mound and exited early from his previous two starts while dealing with finger issues on his pitching hand.

Halos manager Phil Nevin told reporters today that all systems are go for Shotime.

Ohtani is making only his second start since late June after dealing with a fingernail issue on his right middle finger as well as a blister on the same finger.

Moreover, Ohtani told FOX Sports during the All-Star game that he didn't expect the finger to be much of an issue in the second half. He threw a short bullpen on Thursday and came out of it well enough to make the start tonight at Angel Stadium.

In 17 starts this season, Shohei has an 11-6 record with a 3.32 ERA and 132 strikeouts in 100.1 innings.
