Angels News: Recently DFA’d Halos Reliever Claimed by AL’s Best Team
Since throwing his last pitch for the Angels on August 4th, one pitcher has found himself on a playoff team.
Former Angels pitcher Jacob Webb has been claimed off waivers by the Baltimore Orioles.
Webb was designated for assignment by the Angels on August 5th after giving up three runs over his last two appearances.
He only had to wait two days before the Orioles eventually picked him up on Monday.
Webb will be pitching for his third team in his four-year career and second team this year.
With the Halos, Webb had his ups and downs as he finished with an ERA just below 4 in his 29-game tenure with the team.
Before coming to LA, Webb was successful in three seasons with the Braves. From 2019-2020, Webb had an ERA of less than 1 and had a 38/17 strikeout-to-walk ratio.
The 2021 season is when he started his struggles as he finished the season with an ERA well above 4.
Now that he is back on the east coast, Webb is looking to get his stats right again.
For now, he has been assigned to the Orioles' minor leagues as he tries to find a spot in the team's bullpen.
The O's have one of the best bullpens in baseball backed by Yennier Cano and Felix Bautista. If Webb makes his way into Baltimore, he will have to be an early-game type of reliever.
At least Webb will now have an opportunity to pitch in playoff games as he did with the Braves early in his career.
