Angels News: Shohei Ohtani Named American League Player of the Week

The MLB voters for this week's player of the week shouldn't have taken long. It was a no-brainer for the voters, and they got it right, giving it to Angels two-way superstar Shohei Ohtani.
Ohtani could have won this award last Friday, as he had a week to remember. The stats speak for themselves, as he hit .435 with a 1.893 OPS, along with six homers and 12 RBIs in seven games from Monday, June 12- Sunday, June 18.
His numbers in the batter's box were otherworldly, and his latest outing was no different. Ohtani went six innings strong, allowed six hits, two earned runs, and three strikeouts in 99 pitches, and earned his sixth win of the season.
This is Ohtani's first Player of the Week award in 2023, which is surprising considering he's been dominant all season long. Nonetheless, this should be the first of many awards this season for the two-way superstar.
