Angels Notes: Chase Silseth Hospitalized, More Ohtani Revelations, Trout Update and More

The latest and greatest Angels news from Saturday all in one place!

The Angels picked up a much needed win in New York with a 5-3 final against the Mets that barely keeps the Wild Card hopes alive. With the good news of the win, more bad news struck as the club stands to lose rookie pitcher Chase Silseth for an extended time thanks to a freak accident.

As I described here, Silseth took a baseball to the back of the head and went down in a heap. He walked off the field under his own power and was taken to an area hospital for examination.

"Scary moment for sure," Halos manager Phil Nevin said.

More details are expected today ahead of the series finale at Citi Field.

Beyond the scary incident, most of the Angels headlines continue to involved Shohei Ohtani who, despite a partially torn elbow ligament, is tearing the cover off the ball at the plate.

Angels GM Perry Minasian revealed some new information about a request for an MRI from the organization to Ohtani's camp which was declined. More details on that plus an update from Mike Trout below.
