Angels Rumors: ESPN Insider Provides Latest Shohei Ohtani Update

We're getting closer to the day, folks!

The winter of two-way superstar Shohei Ohtani is almost coming to an end. The good news is Ohtani will sign with a team as early as next week. The bad news is, it most likely won't be the Los Angeles Angels.

MLB insider for ESPN Jeff Passan provided an update on the two-time AL MVP ahead of his decision date.

Passan says Ohtani will sign a contract worth up to $600 million, and listed the most likely suitors at this point.

“The Dodgers are in it. The Blue Jays are in it. The Giants — the Angels and Cubs are seen as a little more on the periphery. But Ohtani, at some point soon, and the expectation, Scott, is early next week, is going to have a new team, and is going to have a contract that could approach $600 million.”

It seems to be a two-headed race between the Los Angeles Dodgers and the Toronto Blue Jays. In the last few days, the rumble between those two teams for Ohtani has only increased, and if the reports are accurate, we will find out by the end of this weekend.

Ohtani is the most sought-after free agent this sport has and likely will ever see. The odds never seemed to be in the Angels' favor, even dating back to when he was a member of the Halos.

We're getting close to the day Ohtani finally makes his decision, and we'll soon know where he's going to call home for the next decade or so.
