Angels Sign Longtime Braves Minor League Pitcher to MiLB Deal
The Los Angeles Angels may not have made a significant signing to help their big league ball club, but they're doing their due diligence on the minor league side of things.
The Halos signed right-handed pitcher Alan Rangel to a minor league deal.
The 26-year-old has been with the Atlanta Braves minor league system since 2014 when he signed with the team as an international free agent. He made his debut in 2015 with the Gulf Coast Braves and has had a tough time debuting in the major leagues since.
Rangel, 26, posted a 4.61 ERA and 140 strikeouts over 127 innings with the Double-A Mississippi and Triple-A Gwinnett in the 2023 season. The Mexican pitcher spent some time with the big league club in 2022 but never made an appearance.
He now heads to the West Coast under the tutelage of former Braves third base coach and now-Angels manager Ron Washington, and we'll see if the change of scenery can help Rangel.
Welcome to the Halos organization, and we cannot wait to witness him grow with the team.
