Former Angels Reliever Opts Out of Deal With AL West Squad
A former Angel is on the lookout for another team after opting out of his deal with the Texas Rangers.
After being released from the Halos earlier this season, Ryan Tepera is on the move again. Since leaving LA, Tepera has not pitched in the major leagues.
During his final moments with the Angels this season, Tepera struggled heavily. In 10 games he had a 7.27 ERA and had an ERA+ of 63. The Angels released him at the end of May.
When he signed with the Rangers, Tepera was assigned to Triple-A Round Rock. In nine games, he had a 0.00 ERA and 16 strikeouts.
Unfortunately for Tepera, the Rangers have no room in their bullpen for another right-handed arm. So, he got tired of waiting, and instead is deciding to find a new home.
Tepera could turn out to be a key piece for any playoff contending team. The 35-year old last pitched in the playoffs in 2021 for the Chicago White Sox.
In the ALDS against the Astros, he only gave up one run in three games pitched.
For now, Tepera will go back on the open market looking for a new home. The Angels could always elect to bring him back if they so choose.
