Former Tulane Star to Make MLB Debut with Houston Astros

Former Tulane pitch J.P. France will make his MLB debut with the Houston Astros on Friday evening.

The Houston Astros will be promoting starting pitcher J.P. France according to Fox 26. He will make his MLB debut on Saturday when he starts against the Seattle Mariners.

France was selected out of Tulane University in the 14th round of the 2018 MLB draft. Last offseason he was placed on the 40-man roster as to avoid him being picked in the Rule 5 draft.

The right-hander has made three starts at Triple-A this season and holds a 2.33 ERA. He does tend to walk a lot of batters, but France has a vast repertoire to lean on.

France is being called up because both Jose Urquidy and Luis Garcia are injured and Houston has little options for depth. France is their top option in the organization.

The former Tulane star is the 30th player to make their MLB debut coming out of the school.
