Takeaways: Atlanta Braves Offense Gets on Track in 10-7 Win over Milwaukee Brewers

The Atlanta Braves offense had been struggling as of late compared to their lofty standards, but they cranked out plenty of runs on Friday for a 10-7 win over the Milwaukee Brewers to open the three-game series.

The Atlanta Braves offense had been struggling as of late compared to their lofty standards, but they cranked out plenty of runs on Friday for a 10-7 win over the Milwaukee Brewers to open the three-game series.

Just last Saturday the Braves offense had a difficult time with Brewers starter Adrian House as he fanned 10 Atlanta hitters over 6 innings.

But this time around they gave him an early exit.

Marcell Ozuna and Eddie Rosario wake up

A lot of the talk this week leading up to the trade deadline is if there needed to be an upgrade at the DH and left field positions with the current struggles of Marcell Ozuna and Eddie Rosario.

Both of them responded in a positive way on Friday combining for 4 hits, 4 runs scored, and 3 RBI. Ozuna homered and double, while Rosario had a double.

Both players have had their hot and cold streaks this year, and we know how dangerous they can be when they're on. A little more consistency in between streaks would be nice.

Still searching for starting pitching

The move for Yonny Chirinos was a head-scratcher to begin with, but it's the position the Atlanta Braves are in as they struggle to find healthy arms for the rotation.

You knew Chirinos wouldn't be able to go very far in this game as he hadn't pitched in two weeks and hadn't thrown more than 51 pitches in an outing since June 29.

He nearly managed to get through 4 innings with only allowing 2 runs, but a two-out single by the nine-hole hitter ended his evening in the fourth and made a mediocre linescore looks worse.

We'll see if the Braves continue to stretch him out and he gets another chance in the rotation, or if this prompts the Braves to be more aggressive for a starter at the trade deadline.

Top-to-bottom

Something we talk about all year long is the depth in the Atlanta Braves lineup, and that was on full display Friday night with everyone getting at least 1 hit.

Everyone except for Michael Harris II scored a run, and everyone except for Sean Murphy and Harris had an RBI.

The two big guys in the middle went back-to-back with home runs in Austin Riley and Matt Olson.

There isn't a lineup as deep and as dangerous as the one the Braves roll out every night.

Bryce Elder hopes to build on his last start with another good outing on Saturday going against a Brewers offense that has had it's struggles this year.

And hopefully this time the Braves offense will do a little better against old Friend Julio Teheran as these teams face-off at 7:20 PM ET on Saturday night.
