The Chicago Cubs are primed to be sellers at this season's MLB trade deadline despite a recent resurgence.

The Cubs sit seven games out of the National League Central lead and six games out of the NL Wild Card race. While an exciting team, Chicago will likely take advantage of players on expiring contracts such as Cody Bellinger and Marcus Stroman.

The latter has been gaining a lot of attention as the hottest commodity on the trade market in recent weeks. One team who could be interested is the Texas Rangers.

The Rangers lead the American League West by just two games after the Houston Astros took a four-game series against them in Arlington. Texas has already shown to be aggressive this season by acquiring Aroldis Chapman from the Kansas City Royals.

Adding Stroman to their rotation would strengthen their prospects of winning the division and making noise in the postseason.

But what would it take for the Rangers to pry Stroman away from Chicago?

Texas may be willing to move their no. 13 prospect RHP Cole Winn along with a lottery ticket such as middle infielder Max Acosta.

Winn was the 15th overall pick in the 2018 MLB draft and has found some success at the Double-A level. He has had a down year this season pitching to a 7.64 ERA in 55.2 innings pitched at Triple-A Round Rock.

He is a polished prospect who needs some refinement and extra time at the level before making the jump to the MLB level.

Acosta signed out of Venezuela in 2019 and has drawn comparisons to Gleyber Torres according to MLB.com. He slashed .262/.341/.361 last season at Single-A and projects as a better second baseman than shortstop.

Stroman will be considered a rental with his opt-out after the season, an opt-out he will almost certainly exercise.

The question remains if Chicago would be willing to pull the trigger in shipping Stroman off for two top-30 prospects?
