Dodgers News: Dave Roberts Doesn’t Think Clayton Kershaw Would Ever Wear Another Jersey

Hopefully, this isn't the end of Kershaw with the Dodgers..

Over the last few years, there has been plenty of discussion about what the future holds for Dodgers starting pitcher Clayton Kershaw. He has continued to sign one-year deals with the team to maintain flexibility for himself each season.

It remains to be seen if this will be his final year in the league, or even with the Dodgers. Kershaw has been linked to possibly playing for his hometown Texas Rangers before he hangs it up for quite some time. But LA manager Dave Roberts doesn’t see that happening at all.

Roberts spoke with MLB insiders Jon Heyman and Joel Sherman recently on their New York Baseball Podcast about Kershaw, and what the future may hold for him.

“I don’t know if he’s coming back,” Roberts said. “I don’t know. I know he loves being a Dodger, so if he does come back to pitch I would assume it would be with the Dodgers. That’s my honest answer.”

If this is indeed the final year for Kershaw as a member of the Dodgers, then he went out on a high note. He was the most consistent pitcher for the team all year long, and it led to him putting together another solid season.

Kershaw posted an ERA of 2.46 this season, and it marked the 13th year in his last 15 where his ERA was under 3.00. It was just another reminder of how dominant Kershaw has been for the Dodgers over the years, and how he deserves all the praise coming his way whenever he does retire.

The hope is that Kershaw returns next season, but if he doesn’t, then hopefully, the team can send him out with another World Series win. It’ll be a sad day for the entire Dodgers organization when Kershaw says goodbye, but maybe we can postpone that for at least another year.
