Dodgers News: Kiké Hernandez Reassures Mookie Betts That Red Sox Fans Still Love Him

Mookie Betts has a big weekend ahead of him

The Dodgers are on its way to Fenway Park for the first time in the regular season since 2010 this weekend. When they get to Beantown, all eyes will be on one player.

Mookie Betts will be in the visiting locker room at Fenway for the first time in his career. Betts spent the first six big league seasons in Boston with the Red Sox.

Betts' impact on the Red Sox is comparable to that of David Ortiz or Manny Ramirez. With Boston, Mookie brought home a World Series championship and a MVP as well as four All-Star appearances.

Although he did so much with the Red Sox, Betts has had doubts about how the fans would react in his first game back.

“This will be my first time going back since 2019. I’m really nervous. Like, I’m really nervous. It’s more just that I haven’t been back in so long. It’s where I grew up, and I don’t know what to expect. Hopefully it’s cool, though. I think it will be fun." (Via On Base with Mookie Betts)

Lucky for him, his Dodger teammate Kiké Hernandez was in Boston earlier this season and reassured him that the Boston fans still love him.

On Betts' podcast, On Base with Mookie Betts, Hernandez let Mookie know that the former Red Sox is still a fan favorite.

“I think you’re gonna be filled with love. I can tell those fans love you, they still do," Hernandez said. "I saw lot of No. 50 jerseys still every day. So, they miss you, bro. You did a lot for that team.” (Via On Base with Mookie Betts)

Fenway will be buzzing Friday night as Red Sox fans will be wanting to see one of their best players take his place in front of the Green Monster once again.
