Dodgers News: Lance Lynn isn't Blaming Long Layoff for LA Running into a D-backs Buzzsaw
The Dodgers' season is in Lance Lynn's hands. After back-to-back abysmal starts from Clayton Kershaw and Bobby Miller, the Dodgers have quickly found themselves facing a 0-2 deficit to the Arizona Diamondbacks in the NLDS as they head to Phoenix for Game 3 on Wednesday.
Lynn, who started 11 games for LA this season after the Dodgers acquired him via a trade with the White Sox, held a 4.36 ERA after the trade deadline.
Because they won their division, the Dodgers enjoyed six days off before their first game of the postseason while the Diamondbacks had to face the Milwaukee Brewers in the Wild Card round.
As another drop in the ocean that is the "rust versus rest" debate, it appears that Arizona has benefitted from playing through the Wild Card round while LA has looked awfully rusty in their two previous outings. However, Lynn isn't buying any excuses.
"Obviously we're creatures of habit," Lynn said. "We're used to playing every day when we get maybe one day off every every two weeks or so, so to have that long break is never fun. But we were able to do things to keep us going. Right now we just ran into a team that went into a Wild Card series on the road and got confidence. They're young, they're full of energy. They're not scared of anything. They're a good group over there, you saw earlier this year and then had a little lull during the season and then they're back. So we got to come ready to play. We put ourselves in a hole and we got to do everything we can to pull ourselves out of it."
