Despite hitting his first home run in his return as a Dodger on Wednesday night against the Oakland Athletics, Miguel Rojas still remained unsatisfied with his current offensive output.

The veteran shortstop detailed his thought process in his struggles at the plate this year in an article from the OC Register.

“It’s definitely been kind of disappointing for my own eyes because I expect a lot more from me, at least to be more productive on a daily basis. But I can’t sit here and say I’m gonna feel bad for myself, because I’m playing on a team that is 16 games over .500 and playing shortstop. I’m gonna keep doing whatever the team needs me to be doing, for me to keep helping the team, if it’s defense, running the bases, being a voice out on the field. But if I can get myself going for these last couple months, it’s going to be important for us.”

Defense was always going to be the calling card for Rojas this year as the Dodgers needed someone to shore up the position after Gavin Lux's torn ACL he suffered in spring training.

After Lux's injury forced Rojas' role from a platoon spot to a full time starting role at short, the demands for his bat to come alive only amplified.

Fans and the team alike are still waiting for the Venezuelan international to emulate some of the successes he had in Miami with the stick, but this past game has been an encouraging sign for all involved.

Rojas appropriately celebrated his first dinger of the season with an emphatic dance once he returned to the dugout, a moment captured by the Sportsnet LA TV broadcast that made both fans and the announcers smile.

Hopefully this sudden power surge can fuel Rojas' improved offensive production so he can keep on dancing.
