Two-Time All-Star 'Solution' For San Francisco Giants' Struggling Offense

The San Francisco Giants are viewed as a landing spot for a former two-time All-Star to fix their middle infield issues.

The San Francisco Giants' offensive struggles from the middle infielders have been an issue in the early stages of the year. Tyler Fitzgerald started at shortstop on Sunday, picking up two hits in four at-bats.

26 years old, Fitzgerald has 44 career big league at-bats, slashing a respectable .273/.319/.545. However, the Giants are in a position to win now after making the moves they did in the offseason, so giving every game at-bats to an unproven rookie likely isn't the solution.

If San Francisco wants to be the team they're looking to be, a trade for a middle infielder seems all but guaranteed.

Bleacher Reports Zachary D. Rymer listed options to find offense from the middle infield positions, listing Tim Anderson as a suitor.

The Giants would be hoping for Anderson to return to form after a tough 2023 season.

In 2022, making his second All-Star Game, Anderson slashed .301/.339/.395. His home run numbers were down with just six, but he was likely going to receive a massive contract if he continued playing the way he did that season.

While landing the former Silver Slugger winner would be an upgrade, he doesn't necessarily guarantee an upgrade offensively.

That was clear from his 2023 season when Anderson slashed .245/.286/.296. Perhaps playing for a winning team could change that, but he had as rough of a season as imaginable last year.

San Francisco can't continue to allow this offense to struggle without making a move. While it's still early, every game counts, especially in a loaded National League West. One game can be the deciding factor in missing the playoffs and with the way this offense has performed, it wouldn't be surprising to see them continue dropping games.
