Padres Postgame: San Diego Grabs Win Over Mariners Behind Fernando Tatis Jr. Home Run

The San Diego Padres lit up the scoreboard on Sunday, taking down the Seattle Mariners by a score of 12-4. It was a strong offensive showing for the Friars, led by star Fernando Tatis Jr., who hit a moonshot home run early in the contest.

He went 1-2 in the game, including the blast off Mariners ace Luis Castillo. Tatis Jr. set the tone for the team, and they never looked back.

San Diego rattled off their 12 runs between the third and sixth inning after going down 2-0 early on. 

Starter Yu Darvish was on the mound to open the game, finishing 3.1 innings of work. He allowed two runs and stuck out six batters on the day. Darvish will need to continue being the leader for this pitching staff for them to stay competitive. 

Infielder Ha-Seong Kim also added a home run for the Padres, driving in two runs.

It was a strong game for the Padres, and they will head into their next game with a ton of confidence. Next up for San Diego is a matchup with the Chicago Cubs tomorrow, with the first pitch scheduled for 12:10 pm PT.
