Atlanta Braves' Superstar in Jeopardy of Missing Opening Day Against Phillies

The Philadelphia Phillies could be facing a depleted Atlanta Braves roster based on the injury status of their superstar.

One of the main goals of the Philadelphia Phillies entering the upcoming season is to get off to a much better start than they had last year.

The combination of dealing with injuries, coming off a tough World Series defeat, and having many of their players at the World Baseball Classic instead of camp, were major factors to struggling early.

The Phillies were never in the hunt for an NL East title because of this and the Atlanta Braves completely ran away with the division.

Outside of a knee issue that one of their starters is currently dealing with, it's been so far so good on the health front this Spring Training.

They're hoping that continues before Opening Day arrives.

When Philadelphia welcomes in the Braves on March 28 to get the 2024 season started, it could be their division rivals who are dealing with the injury issues to begin the year this time.

Justin Toscano of Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported that reigning National League MVP, Ronald Acuna Jr. is dealing with his own knee concerns that could keep him out for the first matchup against the Phillies.

"They recommend an MRI. It showed irritation in the right meniscus. Plan now is to see a doctor in LA," Toscano posted on social media.

He also added that Atlanta expects Acuna to be ready for Opening Day, however, but meniscus concerns early in the year are not something to play around with.

There's still just under a month until the opener, so with no structural damage, then there is plenty of time for the superstar to be ready for the divisional matchup.

This will be something to continue monitoring as one of the best players in the game could be out to start the season.
